15 Ideas to Get You In The Mood For Fall

September 2, 2013 By Nicki 10 Comments

I want to tell you right off the bat that this is the second time I am writing this post.  I stayed up late last night and wrote this post, edited it, created a collage on picmonkey, labeled it, scheduled it to go live at 7:30 a.m.  I get up this morning to check it, and it is nowhere to be found.  Literally nowhere!  It is sitting in my box as a draft with none of the work I did last night.  Literally none, people!  Excuse my language, but WTF!  How does something like that disappear into thin air?  If you are a blogger yourself you know how much work can go into putting a post together, and I was happy with this one, only to find out this morning that it was ALL FOR NOTHING!  Gotta love that, right?

Anyhoo, I am making an attempt to recreate it, but with about half the energy, know what I mean?  Not fun to do the same work twice.  Whatup Blogger??  I had this cute little introductory paragraph written right under my fabulous collage…can’t remember exactly what it said now.

I went a little something like- my daughter mentioned over the weekend that she was sick of the heat, I gasped, and blah blah blah, so on and so on…

I am sorry, do I seem bitter?  Not at all!  So, moving on!

In trying to get in the mood for fall, since today is Labor Day, and it kind of marks the end of summer and the start of fall, I created a sweet little collection of some of my favorite inspiration that I have found to get me in the mindset for fall decorating.  I hope it inspires you too.  Just ignore my little rant above!

I love this burlap pillow. It looks great on this porch, or it would look good in an entryway too.

I love this stacked pumpkin idea.  I have a couple of good artists who live with me, so I am trying this one this year.  I’ll let you know how it turns out!

These bats would be fun to do with the kids.  I might give them a try.

This looks like an inexpensive, but adorable way to add a little fall around your house.

These yarn candy corns look fairly simple to make, but they are perfection!

I am in love with this acorn frame with a simple fall leave and a tiny branch as the art in the frame.

I could not find the source for this mantle, but I love the vibe it’s got going on.

I love these warm colors and the candles in the fireplace. Good idea for something different
I have seen painted acorns before, but I love them so much!

This is another project that would be fun for kids.  And it is adorable.  You can find a tutorial for how to make this by clicking the source.

This is a great example of using neutral colors, but the wheat sheaf gives a cozy autumn feel.

I could not find the source for these cute candles, but it looks pretty self explanatory.  Use and old sweater and a leaf to embellish some glass candles.  simple and cozy!
This do-it-yourself fall project is so charmingly cozy. Chances are, you have an old sweater lying around -- why not give it new life by using it as a candle wrap? Family Chic’s Camilla Fabbri makes these candle sweater wraps look so simple -- and, oh so, chic.
This is a wreath made from dry lima beans, with a pretty shiny bow.  I keep being drawn to this wreath, it must be a sign that I should make one.

I like the artwork on this mantle.  It does not scream “I am a Fall Decoration”, but it definitely gives off a warm and cozy vibe.
Source
This is a free way to give a fall flare to candles you already have.  Just gather some colorful leaves from a nature walk and go to town!

And last, but certainly not least, is the burlap wreath I made for fall last year.  I have changed this wreath out for every season, and this fall will be no different.  Here is what it looked like last year.

But I am digging the way this one is decorated for fall, so I might try to mimic this.

I would love for you to hop on over to the Fall Decor pinterest board I created and see even more of the inspiration I have been spotting lately.  And I am gonna keep on adding to it, of course!  And while you are there, you could just start following me on Pinterest, I mean why not, you are already there and all you have to do is click follow, right?
I hope you feel a little inspired to do something different this fall.  I am sure I will be back to share more fall decorating ideas soon.  I just won’t be able to resist.Link Parties:
