Today I’m sharing 5 ways to add a Spring touch to your decor.
Welcome to the Spring Fling Blog Hop! I have joined together with some of my favorite bloggers today to bring you a blog hop that is bursting with Spring, and I am so excited. I have had so much stress in my life these days with the teacher walk out in West Virginia, and it was really nice to pause and start adding some Spring touches around my house. Styling and decorating my house is like therapy for me. And at this point, I am far from finished with decorating my house for Spring, but I was able to come up with 5 ways to add a Spring touch to your decor.
You can find links to the Spring Fling blog hop participants at the bottom of this post. Don’t forget to check them out, because they are sure to be full of inspiration!
I was short on time and energy, but it did really cheer me up over the weekend to start welcoming Spring into my home, and today I want to share 5 easy ways you can add a Spring touch to your decor. For some of you, these simple touches may be enough for you, and you don’t feel like you need to add more spring to your homes, but for those of you like me, this is just a beginning and I plan to tweak and add more, especially as Easter approaches.
1. Throw Pillows
I love throw pillows, and they are an easy way to change out the vibe in your home throughout the seasons. One thing I also love, is that you can buy pillow covers, which don’t take up as much space to store, and then you can just change out the pillow covers. I added some pillows in some colors that feel like spring in my living and dining room/office.
The pillow you see above that says hello Spring is from the dollar spot at Target. I love the florals with the black and white stripes. And it was only $5! Unfortunately I don’t see it online to give you a link to it, but they are in stores now.
Please note: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which allows me to make a small commission from your purchase, but your purchase price stays the same.

I’ve mentioned this before, but in case you missed it, we have a Pug named Tyson Chicken Nugget who is still a puppy. He loves to chew on pillows. So I keep the throw pillows in a giant box and they only come out for company. It feels like such a luxury now when I am able to get my pillows out. And I am anxiously awaiting the day this behavior stops.
As a matter of fact, I had two blush velvet pillows from Target, and then he tore a hole in one, so I had been on the lookout for a matching one because Target stopped selling the ones I had. And then last weekend I found this blush pillow you see below at Target, and it is the exact color of blush as my other pillow, so I snatched it up. It isn’t velvet, it is more of a linen look, but it works and I’m satisfied. and if you are clicking on my link to go and order it, it is described on the website as orange. It is not orange, it is blush. While we are on the subject, I am not a huge fan of Target’s website. I always have a hard time finding what I’m looking for. I think they need an overhaul and a redesigned website, and that you should be able to order things online that are in the dollar spot. Sometimes I will find something on the website and it says only available in stores, or not available to be shipped to me. What’s up with that Target? Just sayin…

The dining room got some Spring pillows as well. I don’t know if you caught it, but I just recently made over my dining room/office for the $100 Room Challenge and I’m very happy with the results. I added these pastel yellow pillows to these two chairs is the dining room. These two chairs don’t get sat in much when it’s just us at home, so these would need to be removed if someone were to be sitting here. But they look really cute in the space.
2. Pastels
I simply love pastels, and they are kind of trending right now. Adding a few pastels around in your decor is a surefire way to bring a Spring touch to your decor. You will notice some kind of a pastel color in almost every image I am sharing here today. From the pillows to the flowers to the other decor items, I have sprinkled some pastel throughout.
My desk chair got this cute green pillow with pink and green tassels. I brought this pillow in from our master bedroom. I like to shop my house for things. It saves money, and it give items a fresh new perspective when you move them around once in awhile.
3. Easter Eggs
I didn’t go overboard with the Easter Eggs yet (that may come later), but I did find a box of these adorable speckled pastel eggs at Target over the weekend, and I couldn’t resist their pastel speckled loveliness. I scattered them in a few different spots. Like in this glass candle holder on our coffee table.
And in this small basket that is the epitome of Spring. I bought this last Spring and I just love the green branches wrapped around the outside of the basket.
Here you will see a vintage hat that I bought last Spring at a vintage store. And doesn’t it just emit a Spring vibe if there ever was one? You can see another lone egg sitting in this next photo atop this cute white bunny. I also found this bunny at Target’s dollar spot, in stores now. And I love the little gold detail on his ears.
4. Spring Banners
You can buy so many cute banners nowadays in stores, but I made this one a couple of years ago. I just found a bunny image online and printed it out. Next I cut it out and then traced the shape onto some book pages from a Swedish book. I then added the little numbered tails that are from a piece of scrapbook paper. This project didn’t take much time, and I think it’s such a cute way to add a Spring touch!
5. Spring Chargers
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I usually don’t set a lovely table. I see so many bloggers who do, and I admire them so much. I’m just not that fancy. I think working full time and raising three kids can do that to a person. And although I love a beautiful tablescape, it’s not for me at this time in my life. But I can add a cute charger or two, and I love these pastel blue chargers I picked up at a thrift store. This is a quick way to give your table a Spring look. All I did was throw these chargers on the table, added these cute white napkins with a touch of green and a fringe detail, and added some glasses that I have but that never get used much.
And that is enough for me when it comes to setting a table. I had dreams of getting out my great grandmother’s china and setting a lovely table for this post, but with the teacher walk out that I am going through, I have had to travel a few days to our state capital for picketing and rallies, and the time just got away from me. Not to mention I have been feeling exhausted lately.
And those, my friends, are 5 quick and easy ways you can add some Spring touches to your home! As I said above, I have only just begun with my Spring decorating, but I wanted to participate in this blog hop, so I challenged myself to come up with something that would be quick and easy to do to give my home a Spring vibe, and I am happy with the result. I hope this brings you a little inspiration to get started with bringing Spring into your homes. If you decorate for it, it will come! Ha!
Now, don’t forget to go and visit my friends and see what Spring inspirations they have to share. I am headed to do just that myself right now!

Nicki, You definitely added spring to your home in great ways, considering all that’s been going on with the walkout! I really love your cute banner you made and that blush pillow from Target looks fantastic. I just heard that the walkout ended (hope that’s true), so please rest when you can and don’t over do it with your exhaustion. You don’t need to get too run down or get the flu. Take care, my sweet friend!
Carol recently posted…8 Budget Spring Decor Ideas
Thank you so much Carol! Unfortunately the news that was put out nationally that the teacher strike is over was false news. We are still out, tomorrow will make day 6. Please pray for us! Negotiations have begun, but we need to see these bills pass in the house and the senate before we will be returning to work. And our government is a Republican ran government, the republicans keep voting everything education related down. So I can’t foresee it passing.
Nicki, these are such great ways to add decor for any season! Sometimes I don’t have the time or energy to fully decorate, but I love the idea of just putting out some pillows or adding a few items that have seasonal colors to that I can enjoy the season.

Thanks so much Robin! It’s definitely working for me for right now, and I’m enjoying it!
I love your refresh ideas! Sweet ideas that don’t break the back or the bank! You always have such real plans for creating a beautiful home.

Hi Nicki! Your home is beautiful as always and I also think that changing the pillows is the perfect way to change up the season in your home. I went to Target looking for that spring pillow after seeing it on IG and my Target did not have any and it rarely has what I see others finding there. I also wish that you could purchase online from the dollar spot. I know you must be tired from the walkout and I hope things get much better for you and the others!
Thanks so much Sherry! Right now things are very stressful here in WV, please pray for us!
Spring has spring in your home and the simple touches make such a difference. I love pastels for spring. I totally agree with you about Targets website and the dollar section should be online. Target is missing out on a lot of sales. Best of luck with the walkout, teachers deserve so much more (I used to teach) & I know all teachers do.
Thanks so much Jenny! Yes Target needs a better website for sure! They are missing out on a lot of sales. Our teacher walkout ended on Tuesday, and by remaining United in our entire state, we were able to secure the biggest teacher raise in our state history! We also were able to secure the same raise for all public employees. It was an awesome day, and the strike was a roller coaster of emotions. I am currently just trying to get on with life, because it seems almost everything was put on hold for about two weeks.
We got our dog a designated chew blanket. He has his area on the sofa has a dog throw on it, and his chew blanket. Actually 2 throws, exactly alike so I can keep one washed!
Your home is very spring like. We are moving, so those decorative touches are in a box somewhere!!!
Love your blog!!
Carrie
Thank you so much Carrie! That is so sweet of you. We are hoping our dog grows out of this very soon!
Great post! Love the tips in this post. I did some of the same things for a bathroom using wallpaper that turned out great.
