A Spring Arrangement

March 17, 2014 By Nicki Leave a Comment

How was your weekend?  We took a day trip to Washington DC on Saturday.  It was Mr. 14 Year Old’s birthday, so this trip was planned so that he and two friends could go to an NBA game.  We spent most of the day seeing the sights.  Our Swedish daughter had not been there before so she had a great time!  Her favorite thing to see was the White House.  She was so thrilled by that!  Then in the evening the guys all went to an NBA game, and us girls went shopping in Georgetown for a couple of hours.  We don’t live near an Anthropologie, so I was thrilled to go into one for a bit!  I bought just a couple small items, which I will be showing you today, along with the spring arrangement I threw together for my dining table.

I bought this colorful tea towel from Anthropologie.  I could have stayed in that store for hours, but it was close to closing time, so I didn’t have long.  But these colors really popped out to me.

I hung it on my stove, which was where I was planning on using it, but I wasn’t liking the pictures I was taking of it hanging there, so I decided to spread it out on my dining table to get some better shots of it.

And I just fell in love with the pop of color it was bringing to my table and my arrangement that I had thrown together a couple of weeks ago.  So I haphazardly placed it under the arrangement, and it just worked!

Don’t you just love when something comes together like that, and you hadn’t planned it that way at all?

For some reason, this tea towel placed in a casual manner under this spring arrangement just worked for me.  It may not be for everybody, but I love the pop of color it is giving my dining room.  And the colors and the birds mimic my gallery wall that I have hanging in this room.

Here’s a little peek at that gallery wall in case you have never seen it before.

I cut apart some hydrangea bouquets I purchased at Wal-Mart to make this arrangement.  I certainly do not consider myself an expert at creating my own arrangements.  But this is good enough for me.

This tea towel won’t stay here permanently, but for now, it is making me smile!  the burlap table runner is from Target.  I bought it at an after Christmas clearance sale last year.  It has a touch of sparkle to it.  I love how neutral it is.

I also bought this little bowl when I was at Anthropologie.  I am adding a subtle touch of pink to my living room.  And this bowl was the perfect addition.

I always drool over the bowls and plates they have there, don’t you?
DSCN4568
My living room already has a touch of green, so this pink bowl seemed like just the right touch to me.

Here is a sneak peek of where I put the bowl.  Pardon the two nail holes above the letter M.  They will be filled in when we paint this room over the summer.

Tomorrow on Trashtastic Tuesday, I am going to show you the inspiration for my decision to add some pink to my living room.  I cannot wait to show it to you!  I think you will love it as much as I do.  So don’t forget to stop back tomorrow and find out what it is!

Have you been into an Anthropologie store lately?  I love to go shopping when we are out of town because where I live does not have many stores that I love.  So getting to actually go into the store was a special treat for me!Link Parties:
