A Spring Burlap Wreath

March 21, 2013 By Nicki 10 Comments

Well, it is the second day of Spring here in snowy West Virginia, but I am not seeing any spring in sight.  LC just happens to be a local meteorologist, and I am starting to get a little mad at him for not bringing some more sunshine!  Over this past weekend I changed my burlap wreath and dressed it up for spring.  I am in love with this wreath!  So far it has been dressed for Fall, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day.  Although I wasn’t really happy with my Valentine’s Day wreath so I  kept kind of quiet about it!  This wreath is not that hard to make, and it is so versatile.  It is my favorite project so far!  Here is what it is sporting for spring!

In case you can’t tell, I can’t make a good bow to save my life!  I can’t tell you  how many times I tried to make this bow.  I love the ribbon with the bold green and white stripes, but the bow could be so much cuter.  Help!

I had a few things to return at JoAnn’s, so I used store credit to get the cute butterfly and the ribbon.  Let’s talk about the butterfly for one second.  It is a little clip that just clips right on to the wreath!  Isn’t it cute?  they had a variety of colors.

I bought the hydrangea’s at The Dollar Tree.  I just kind of took them apart into individual stems, and stabbed them down into the wreath.

Here is a close up of my crappy bow making skills.

And another close up of my cute little butterfly.

Have you tried making a burlap wreath yet?  There are so many different variations you can make!  If you haven’t, and you like this look, I strongly encourage you to try it!  I will use this wreath for  several seasons to come!I am linking up here:

I haven't tried to make one (the last time I looked, burlap was so expensive) but yours looks so pretty!

Suzanne I can't remember how much I paid for the burlap, but I had to order it because I couldn't find it locally. I saw it at Joann's over the weekend though, however I did not check the price. Whatever the cost, I have gotten my money's worth because I can change it out for every season.

I have to admit I've never actually made a wreath (let alone a burlap one). I love your burlap ribbon it looks like it doesn't unravel and make a mess like most burlap does. And I think your blow looks great. But I know what you mean I suck at making bows. It's a good think I only have boys!

Thanks! Yes, the burlap is wired ribbon and it is bound on the edges. I am going to learn how to make a proper bow! One of these days…

So pretty! I love how it's on the wall (we only have so many doors, right?).

Megin, I originally made it for my front door, but then I was afraid to hang it there because the door gets wet when it rains, so for now it is on the wall! But it may move eventually!

Very cute wreath and ribbon. I have been wanting one of those since I saw them on Pinterest.. Are they very hard to make and what do you need? Thanks in advance. Have a good Easter.

Donna, if you would like to see the tutorial I used, go up to the beginning of my post and click on my fall wreath. You will find a link in that post to the entire tutorial. They are not hard to make at all. YOU need a wire wreath form, the wired burlap ribbon, and wahtever you want to decorate it with. The tutorial will also give you a list of everything you need. If the links do not work, let me know and I will help!
