Christmas in My Dining Room/Office

December 19, 2015 By Nicki Leave a Comment

Christmas in my dining room/office

Hi all!  I’m excited today to share my Christmas Dining room with you, but before we get started with the tour, you might want to check out the rest of the Christmas decor I have shared so far this year (just click the links): my plaid inspired Christmas tree, my rustic woodland Christmas mantle, my plaid inspired Christmas living room,  my Christmas entryway and DIY advent calendar garland, Christmas kitchen, DIY pom-pom snowballs, and 10 DIY ways to use plaid in your Christmas Decor. I like the way it turned out this year.  Most of what I used to decorate this room were things I already had, I only bought a few new pieces.  It’s Saturday morning as I write this, and I spent the entire evening last night relaxing, staring at the Christmas Tree, and watching TV, which was long overdue.  We got some snow yesterday and last night and It really looks like Christmas time outside! We have a busy day with shopping, a trip to see Santa, and then home to a marathon of gift wrapping, which I haven’t even started yet.  I’m going to keep my words to a minimum and just let you enjoy the pictures, so come on in and let’s get started!

Aren’t the Santa’s on the backs of the chairs adorable.  I got them at Dollar Tree for $3 each!  I must admit, I cover up my dining set as much as possible because I no longer like it.  We have plans to build a farmhouse table, so maybe by next Christmas we will have a new table in here.

You know, they say that it’s all about the shoes, right?  These fancy shoe ornaments are my daughter’s, but she wasn’t going to use them so I thought they added the perfect whimsical touch to these lit branches.

The plates you see hanging here are from Target.  They aren’t even glass plates, they are plastic, but they are too cute for words!  The mirror was a Goodwill find, and I liked it so much I didn’t alter it al all, just cleaned it and hung it!  And the two oval frames with the Christmas quotes are a DIY project that I shared the tutorial for here.  I just love the buffalo plaid with the gold frames, and the fun quotes, perfect mix!  My plaid table cloth used to belong to my husband’s grandmother.  It is one of the things we were given when she passed.  This is the first time I have used it in here.  It was too big for the table so I just tucked each end up under and it works for a temporary solution.

I made this centerpiece with a Target dollar spot miniature tree, some candles I already had, some old Christmas ornaments I wasn’t using, and some thrift store sweaters.  I plan on sharing a full tutorial next week, so if you are interested in learning how I made this, watch for it!  I absolutely love it!

Did you know that our dining room is also our office?  This house does not have a space for an office, so we had to carve out a spot for one here.  It is not my ideal arrangement, but it works for us. And this room is constantly occupied.  This is where the blogging magic happens, homework happens, bills get paid, and games are played.  One downside is that it is difficult to keep neat! I have a mug warmer on the desk that has gotten me through many a long blogging session!  The rustic cross on the wall is a new addition that I found at Hobby Lobby.  My grandmother used to sing The Old Rugged Cross to me all of the time, and when I saw this, I had to have it.  It brings back so many memories of her when I look at it.

Lastly, I wanted to show you a new addition to our dining room/office.  If you are a regular reader, you might remember that I shared some small changes in my dining room in August, and I also shared a mess that had been sitting there for at least 6 months.  My husband had to get this printer when he startedhis new job, and he also has lots of other work related things that he now has, and it all sat in a heap on the floor in here for almost a year.  I am looking for the perfect piece of furniture at a thrift store or yard sale that I can make my own, but still haven’t found anything, so as I was cleaning to host Thanksgiving dinner, I said something had to be done now.  This end table is from my daughter’s apartment, but it was sitting in our garage.  I had LC bring it upstairs and it is a temporary solution.  It will eventually go back to my daughter’s apartment next year, but in the meantime, it is way better than the floor.

I hope you enjoyed touring my dining room/office today!  I have one room left to show you and it is our family room downstairs!  We are off to shop till we drop!  What do you have in store for this weekend?  Whatever it is, I do hope you enjoy the weekend!
