Cool Frames For a Cause

Have you heard of Warby Parker?  They make updated and refreshed classic vintage eyewear styles.  Their collection of frames is both contemporary and refined.  I never wore glasses until after age 30.  Over the years though, I had to start wearing them to see long distances, and more recently I have had to resort to reading glasses.  Miss 18 Year Old, however, has been wearing glasses since 1st Grade, and Mr. 14 Year Old needs them to see the boards at school.  So, both them and I spend a significant amount of time looking for affordable and attractive eye wear.  And I am one of those people who can not step outside in the sun without sunglasses.  I feel like the sun blinds me, so I am never without protection.

I am always a sucker for a good cause, and this summer, Warby Parker is teaming up with Architecture For Humanity, and has made two new sets of collaborative frames, the Aslin and Fowler.  Both sets of frames are inspired by an appreciation for streamlined angles and built to last materials.  The frames are very hip and cool, and the best part is that a portion of each purchase will go towards Architecture For Humanity.  And as with all frames that Warby Parker sells, with every pair  sold, they distribute a pair to someone in need.  Now, if that is not a reason to purchase your new frames from Warby Parker, I don’t know what is!
I have been drooling over so many of their frames, and the Aslin and the Fowler do not disappoint!  I have only shown pictures of me in my glasses a couple of times on the blog, but just to refresh your memory, this is me wearing my glasses.
Now can’t you just see me sporting these puppies?  They need to be mine!

I was feeling inspired to create an outfit just for these frames, what do you think?  I think this casual weekend shopping outfit would look just as cool and casual with the Fowler sunglasses pictured below.

And if you prefer a more neutral look, they also have them in black instead of blue.

And as for the sunglasses, oh how I adore them!  So classic and hip, all at the same time!

In case you don’t know much about the organization, Architecture For Humanity creates solutions to global humanitarian challenges through the power of design.  They provide vulnerable communities with architectural, planning, and construction services.  They have been involved in many disaster relief programs, helping to rebuild devastated communities that have been in need.  Some of the places they have been involved have been central Oklahoma after the recent destructive tornadoes wiped out entire towns, and areas affected by Hurricane Sandy, in the Caribbean, New York and New Jersey.

I am due for a new pair of glasses this spring, and I am so glad that I discovered Warby Parker frames.  The great thing about this website is that you can choose five sets of frames, and they will send them to you for free, so you can try them before you buy them!  They also have a virtual try-on, where you can add a picture of you and then see what you look like in different sets of frames.  That eases a lot of my nervousness about purchasing glasses and not knowing which ones will look good on me.  As soon as my insurance will pay for another pair, I am going to order a pair from them.  I will be sure to share them when they arrive!

If you are on the market for a new set of glasses or sunglasses, I encourage you to give Warby Parker a look!  I have fallen madly in love with the style of their frames!
