Four Sweet and Simple Valentines Day Crafts

February 2, 2015 By Nicki Leave a Comment

four sweet and simple valentines day crafts

Hey all!  I hope you had a restful weekend and are ready for the week ahead!  I’m usually not big on decorating for Valentines Day, but last week I was inspired to make the DIY Love Canvas, and after that I was on a roll, so I did a few more sweet and simple Valentines Day crafts that I wanted to share with you today.  I made each of these in less than an hour, total for all four.

Valentines Day Banner1
The first one is this cute Valentines Day banner.  I can’t take all of the credit for this one.  This is a great example of how you can buy a cheap decoration from the store and put your own spin on it to knock it up a notch.  I purchased this banner at Wal-Mart.  It came on a cheap looking red string that looked like a long shoe string.  But I thought the hearts were cute.  So I removed them from the string, and used some jute to string them up on.

I also purchased a small package (of 4) of glittery red, white, and pink hearts.  I punched some holes in them and placed them on top of four of the other hearts.

I originally planned to hang this on my mantle.  But when I did, I didn’t like the way it looked.  It just didn’t fit in, so I decided to try it out on my banister.  And I loved it!  And I think it looks cute next to the DIY love canvas that is in the entry.  Have you ever bought a cheapo craft and changed it up a little to make it your own?

Next up is my XOXO Valentine Wreath.  If you are a regular at Sweet Parrish Place, you have seen this burlap wreath decorated for many different seasons.  You can see all the ways I have decorated it differently here.

I had the silver glitter letters left over from my Baby It’s Cold Outside Christmas Tree.  But I didn’t have two X’s or O’s, so I traced the silver X and O onto red card stock and cut them out.

I then punched holes in them with a hole punch, strung them with jute, and tied them onto the wreath.  I tied a simple bow with some red and white heart ribbon that I bought a couple of years ago.  I was happy to decorate my burlap wreath for Valentines Day because it had been naked ever since I took down my Christmas Décor.

This paper heart Valentines Tree was the most simple of all.  I have had these branches in the vase for a while now, and it is another fun thing to decorate for different seasons.  I used more of the red card stock paper that I had in my stash, and cut out four hearts in two different sizes.  There is a sneak peek in this picture below of two very fun projects that I cannot wait to show you!  Coming soon!

In case you don’t know how to do this (and you probably do), just fold your piece of paper in half and draw half a heart, starting at the folded edge.  Then when you cut it out, and unfold it, it’s a heart.

Next, you just punch two holes in each heart, and tie a string through.  I used jute, again.

I showed you my DIY Love Canvas last week, and you may or may not have noticed the pink heart hanging from my shoe cabinet.  This I made two years ago, but don’t know if I ever showed it on my blog.

This was really simple to make and I just think it is precious!  I love the pale pink.  You can buy these foam heart shaped wreaths at pretty much any craft store, I bought mine at AC Moore.  Then I just picked out some pink yarn that I liked.  I used a hot glue gun to glue the yarn to the heart from right where I started, and then just went to town wrapping the yarn around the heart.  And at the end you will use your hot glue gun once again to glue the last piece of yarn to stick.

You can use any type of ribbon you like to hang it.  I like mine to hang lopsided, but you can hang it straight as well.  I just used some red and white striped delicate ribbon that I bought at the Target Dollar aisle to hang mine.

And there you have it!  Four Valentines crafts that you can do all by yourself.  Which is your favorite?  I would love to read your comments!  This is my last Valentines Day themed post for this year, promise!  I really had fun sprinkling these sweet decorations around our entry and living room this year, and Mr. 7 Year Old enjoys them too.  Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I hope you have a great week!
