Hey friends! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season, I have have been doing a little planning for some improvement and upgrades that we are planning for our home when winter ends. Our home was built in 1996, so it is time that some things need to be upgrades, updated, and improved. So today I thought I would share some of my ideas with you, while also showing you some gorgeous homes all decked out for the holidays! Performing home maintenance and upgrades is a great investment. In addition to enjoying a better-looking house, you can boost its market value and protect it from damage. Renovations and repairs don’t have to be mutually exclusive, though. In fact, they can be tackled together, and you can kill two birds with one stone by getting a range of home improvement tasks done in one fell swoop. Read on for more information and ideas for how to get your home in its best shape through strategic maintenance. Taking this approach provides a number of benefits, including the opportunity to save time and money. It also might just give you the motivation needed to finally tackle the honey-do list that’s been getting longer. If you’re ready to get started, these tips are the right place to start.
Care for Your Exterior
The exterior of your home is the façade that’s visible to the world. Its curb appeal and general appearance are determined by how often you repair and maintain your home. One way to accomplish both of these tasks is to perform care and repair on its siding. Professional painters will typically perform repairs prior to painting, and you can do the same. Complete any repairs such as patching that must be done, and then bring out the paint bucket to give your home a new shine. This resolves damage, prevents it from worsening, and improves the look of your house. Our home is part siding and part brick, and luckily our siding is in good condition and doesn’t yet need this, but I know of a neighbor in our community that had their siding painted, and it completely updated and changed the look of their home.
Upgrade Windows
Upgrading windows is another way to improve the appearance of your home, but more importantly, it offers the opportunity to save energy and cut down on your bills. Selecting new energy efficient windows is one of the best ways to repair and maintain your home. Older models often leak, which raises costs and forces your HVAC system to work harder. New windows, on the other hand, can provide superior insulation that keeps your house warmer and cooler more easily. They can also provide an aesthetic boost to your house if you opt to go with ornate or decorative details. A good friend of mine had all of the windows in her home replaced last summer, and it looks amazing, not to mention how much warmer her house is now that it is cold!
Consider Additions
Isn’t this home in the picture above just gorgeous! I don’t know anything about his home because I couldn’t find the source, but I imagine that someone has strategically built onto this home over the years, And if they did, they did a bang up job! If your home lacks the space you need or has a space that isn’t quite usable, you may wonder how to remedy such problems. Additions and renovations can do the trick and make your home customized to meet your needs. A contractor will partner with you to plan for proposed renovations and any other work that needs to be done on the house. Completing construction like this can have a great effect on your home’s value and enable the house to better meet your needs. You can also make creative design choices over the course of the project. Your home is your castle, and you should do all that you can to care for it. If you don’t know where to start, though, tackling a few projects at the same time or even taking on major renovations may not be a bad idea. You can accomplish all of your home improvement goals by taking them one step at a time and enlisting help from a contractor when you need to.
