Miss 18 Year Old is graduating on May 17, and then we are having her graduation party on the 18th. So we have been busy planning her party! Her party is going to be a casual picnic type of party. We rented a pavilion at the City Park for the day. We are having the food catered, and it is exactly what she asked for. We will be having assorted sandwiches – egg salad, ham salad, chicken salad, and turkey and cheese. Also, we will have macaroni salad, baked beans, fresh fruit, chips, and chocolate covered strawberries. We also ordered her a cake.
She loves sunflowers, so she requested a sunflower theme for the decorations. I created a Pinterest board to gather some ideas for her party, so I thought I would share some of my favorite ideas with you today! And then after the party, I will share the pictures of her actual party with you. Here are some of the things that inspired us. None of these inspiration pictures are going to be exactly replicated at her party, but we took bits and pieces of things we liked and used them for inspiration.
We both like the casual vibe of this table. We are going to do the white table cloth with brown craft paper down the middle. But the centerpieces will be different.

Here is another table with a similar theme. Ours will be a little of both, but still different.

We love the casual way these photos are displayed, and we plan to do something very similar.

We would love to put out a jar like this for people to write little messages for her to read at a later time.

We plan to hang some tissue paper pom poms from the rafters of the pavilion. Yellow and white are the colors we chose.

We ordered one large balloon bouquet for the gift table.

We purchased a large wooden lantern that is unfinished. It opens from the top. I am going to paint it and we are going to use it for people to put cards in. And bonus, I will be able to use it after!

That about sums it up! She did not want anything that they sell at party stores that says congratulations graduate, or anything like that. So, being the artsy fartsy type, she is going to make a banner to hang, and she is going to make a sign to put where people can see it. I will be sure to share them too!
Her party is going to be simple, casual, and something that is what she wants. Most importantly, all of the people who have loved her and cared about her over the years will be there in one place to wish her well and congratulate her, and show her how special and loved she is. And that will mean more to us than any food or decorations. It will be a special day, and hopefully she will feel special and loved.
