This year was the first time I have ever had a banister to decorate for Christmas. All of my previous homes were one story, so I was excited to decorate my banister this year. We live in a split level so it is the first thing you see when you walk in the door. It took some trial and error, but I am happy with the way it turned out. I bought a 20 foot pre lighted garland from Home Depot. I bought some small red velvet ribbons from Walmart, and I bought four little gold decorations that had greenery and sparkles and an ornament. I didn’t make any of it myself. I needed a place to hang our Christmas Stockings since we currently have no mantel to decorate, so I hung them on the opposite side from the ribbons and other decorations. I also hung a red beaded sparkly wreath on the center top. I have had the wreath for a few years. I just used some red velvet ribbon I had lying around from a bow that fell apart and hung it there. This banister may be a work in progress. I would like to add some real holly if I come across some. We don’t have any in our yard. Here are some pictures of the banister during the process, and the final for now product. My 12 year old son really likes it, and that is good enough for me, because he is the family critic.
Hi!
I got here from the Lettered Cottage. I had to respond to your banister photo request because it has the same elements as mine with the lights and stockings! Yours is quite beautiful.

Hi Angie,
Thank you for somehow coming across my little blog. Or maybe I should be thanking God right now, because I perused through it really quickly and I can see there you are writing things straight to my heart! I think you sent this comment to me for a bigger reason, and it is because I am supposed to be reading what you are writing! Love your banister by the way! And thank you for blessing me tonight.
