No Place Like Home – Halloween on the Front Stoop

 No Place Like Home- Halloween

Hey friends!  Today is another exciting day for myself and my tribe of fellow bloggers, because we have a treat in store for you!  We have banded together to bring you the No Place Like Home – Halloween tour!  If you missed it, we all shared our Fall Home Tours last week, so you should definitely check it out because it was full of wonderful talent and inspiration.  The 8 of us have many things we are going to be bringing to you and sharing as a group for the Holidays and beyond, and this is a very exciting venture for all of us, so I hope you will enjoy following along and getting to know some bloggers you may not have discovered before.  Today, each of us is sharing some project or decor that is Halloween inspired, and I am very excited to check out everything my tribe is sharing today.  As for me, I am sharing my newly made over front stoop all decorated for Fall and Halloween with you today.  So enjoy!

Fall Front Stoop

You may remember back in May I wrote a post about the improvements we were planning for the exterior of our home.  And then I kind of left you all hanging, sorry for that.  Long story short, we didn’t get this project finished until summer was practically over, so I made the decision to wait and share it when it was decorated for Fall.  Because we didn’t get to really decorate it for summer.  This project ended up being quite the nightmare, and we have decided for reasons I am not going to mention publicly not to disclose the whole saga.  So all I will say is please, when you hire someone to do work for you, even if that person is referred by a friend or neighbor, check them out first, because we ended up losing quite a bit of money, and time.  But in the end, it is finally finished, so here is our newly made over front stop all decorated for Fall and Halloween!  If you would like to see what our front stoop looked like before the updates, please click here.

I made this floral fall wreath last Fall, and this year I decided to spook it up a little bit with this skeleton.  This was so easy because all I did was buy the skeleton at Walmart and hang it from the same hook the wreath is hanging from.  And after Halloween, I can take it down and keep the wreath up.

I love my little spider pumpkin holder, it always adds a great little Halloween touch on my front stoop.  And I have never seen another one before!  I’ve had it for many years.

I made this pumpkin decor out of some salvaged fence posts that I had lying around left over from a fence we tore down and replaced over the summer.  I’ll be sharing the DIY tutorial for it next week, so stay tuned for that!  When I photographed my Fall home tour there were no pumpkins for sale anywhere, and so I waited to post about my Fall front stoop until I could get some pumpkins, and it was so worth the wait!

I bought this little tray table at Target back in the Spring, but it sat in our garage all summer while our stoop was a disaster.  I added some Halloween touches to the table with this LED jack-o-lantern lantern, a witches hat, a witches broom, and a little sign that says “you say witch like its a bad thing”. The sign made me laugh, so I had to have it.  And then a couple of jack-o-lanterns that I had stored in the garage. The witch hat, the sign, and the witch broom are all purchased at Walmart.  The jack-o-lantern lantern is from Lowes.

We tore out our old railings, and installed new railings, and we had the concrete resurfaced.  It made such a huge improvement to the curb appeal of our house.  The old railing was original to the house, which was built in 1996, and it was wooden and completely rotted and full of boring bees.  The concrete on our stoop and stairs was starting to disintegrate, and we had it resurfaced.  The contractor who did it for us told us it was no permanent solution, but that it should last for 5-6 years.  We don’t plan on living here for that much longer, so we are hoping it will last at least for the remainder of our time here, and until we have sold the house.

I really like the mums that were two different colors.  I purchased the striped chair back towards the beginning of summer at K-Mart.  the feather pillow is an indoor pillow and I brought it outside because I thought it looked cute with the color scheme I have going on out here, but it will have to be brought in because it can’t get rained on.  Fortunately we have had a very dry month, and as I’m sitting here typing this, it is raining outside!  I’m OK with it because we needed it pretty bad.

I have had the distressed jack-o-lantern tin for many years and don’t even remember where I found it, but it looks cute with a tea light candle in it for Halloween.

I’m so happy to have our front stoop makeover finished and to be able to make it look like Fall and Halloween outside!  This weekend is Mr. 16 Year Old’s homecoming dance, and the front stoop will make a cute backdrop for family pictures.

Our new hand rails were purchased at The Home Depot, and the rail toppers at the tops of the stairs are solar powered, so they light up and shine down the stairs at night.  These didn’t cost a whole lot more money, but they look really good when they are lit up.

I’m so happy that you joined me today to see my new front stoop.  These few little Halloween touches were so easy to add into my Fall decor, and I think they add the perfect touch.  And for very little money.    I hope you have a fantastic weekend!  Be sure to click through the links above to catch what everyone else is sharing for Halloween today!  You are sure to be inspired because this is a talented group of ladies, and their Fall Home Tours were amazing, so I just know their Halloween projects are going to knock your socks off!
