Do you have a boring old towel hook in your bathroom?  Well, I did- up until a few days ago, but no more!  I decided to spice things up a little in our master bathroom and add a towel hook that will make people take a second look.  And today I am going to show you how you can do something similar in your own bathroom.  This project is so simple, and if you have a drill, that is really all you need to make a similar decorative towel hook of your very own.  But let’s get one thing out of the way before we begin.  Look at the picture above, do you notice a difference in the wall on the left and the wall on your right?  If so, you are not going crazy or losing your eyesight!  I am in the process of painting this room, one wall at a time.  And I could not wait after painting the first wall to add something pretty.  The wall on the left is the old paint color, not sure what it is because it was this color when we moved in.  But it is a cucumber green.  The wall on your right is the new paint color, which is Benjamin Moore’s Grey Owl.

Have you ever seen the bathroom cabinet (click the link to read more about it) that I made over?  If not, here it is!  It has been this way for about a year.  Yes, this bathroom update has been over a year in the works.  Sometimes things move a little slow around here, and I have been busy skipping around from one project to another.  We also recently changed the light fixture over the sink, (you can find the light we purchased here).  The light fixture used to be one of those straight bars with the big round light bulbs, straight out of the 1980’s-90’s.  So this was a very welcome change, and we owned this light for a year before we finally changed it out!  It is a brushed nickel, and a pretty classic look, I like it!  But enough about the paint color and the light, we are here to discuss this adorable decorative towel hook I made.

This was so simple, anyone can do it.  I have had the antler hook for several months, just sitting around waiting to be hung.  And I could have hung just the hook and been done with it, and it would have been cute.  But adding this frame with the burlap backing made it extra special, and certainly kicked it up a notch, don’t you think?

I did not DIY this frame, although it would be super easy to get any frame, and add burlap to the backing.  But lucky me found this super cute frame with the burlap already on it at Walmart last weekend!  And it was super cheap you guys!  They also have it in a rustic looking natural wood, in case you would prefer that look instead.  It also came with the sisal string to hang it from.

This frame and hook is not really hanging from a nail and the sisal string.  I felt that would have made it way too unstable for my purposes.  What we did was to install a drywall anchor and took a screw and literally drilled a hole through the burlap and the backing and into the wall.  And then we hung the deer hook onto the burlap.  After that, we added a small nail and hung the sisal string on it, just for decorative purposes.  And I have to give LC the credit here, because he hung this for me while I was out the other evening.  I just marked the wall and the burlap right where I wanted everything, and he did the work.

I am in love with my new towel hook!  How about you?  The rustic look of the frame with the blinged out antlers are the perfect combination in my opinion, it is my prefect polished casual vibe that I am going for in my home.  And I am so happy with how it looks in our master bath!

While we are talking about my master bathroom, I thought I would switch my camera over to the other side of the bathroom and show you another new addition.  Do you remember my painted thrift store magazine rack that I shared for Trashtastic Tuesday a few months ago?  Well, we finally hung it in here, and I absolutely adore it!

My favorite part about this is the fact that it holds two rolls of toilet paper!  That is a small luxury, and I right?  That means less toilet paper roll changing will be happening in my life, and that makes me smile just a little.  Plus, it holds stuff to read, so that is a win as well!  I usually have my kindle and some books and magazines lying around the bathroom, and now they have a home.

Speaking of toilet paper, have you tried Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® Bath Tissue?  It is kind of the bomb diggity when it comes to toilet tissue.  Quilted Northern has been around for 100 years, so I am pretty sure they know what they are doing when it comes to this stuff.  This toilet tissue is soft, strong, and flexible.  This new toilet paper has a Cleanstretch® technology that limits tissue ripping and separation.  It is designed to be forgotten, and is septic and sewer safe.  And I love to keep a supply of it on hand.  When you have three bathrooms being used on a regular basis, you go through a lot of toilet paper, I tell you!

I am hoping to be finished with painting the walls in here very soon, and we will sadly have to take this awesome new addition to our bathroom down for a couple of days, but it will be rehung, I can promise you that!  I think it is my most favorite toilet paper holder I have ever owned (I just might take it with me to the next house one day).

The towel rack you see in the picture below will be making an exit when we paint, and the holes will be patched up.  We hang our towels on the back of the door, so it is not necessary, and we also have a nice hook next to the shower that we use when we are in the shower.  I still haven’t decided whether I will even hang a towel rack in this room, but right now I am leaning towards not.

If you would like to try this toilet paper for yourself, you can find the Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong® with Cleanstretch® at your local Walmart in the toilet paper aisle.

At the bottom of the post I have made a list of what we have accomplished in this bathroom already and what we still need to finish up.  I am hoping to have it complete before the year ends.  Cross your fingers!  Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you were inspired to step things up a bit in your own bathroom and add an interesting towel rack and toilet paper holder!  I am very happy that I did!  Have a great day!To Do List for Master Bathroom
