A Professional and a Casual Work Look

A Professional and a Casual Work Look

Hey friends!  I feel like my fashion posts have been too few and far between, but for good reason!  I have spent the majority of my time working on two room makeovers in a row!  Talk about busy!  Anyhoo, both makeovers are finished and behind me and it’s time to get back to more fashion, which is such a love of mine.  Today I have both a professional and a casual work look  look to share with you.

As you may already know, I am a school counselor in real life, and a lot of what I share fashion wise is things I wear to work.  So today, I thought I would share a couple of favorite looks I have worn to work this spring.  My work environment is fairly casual, and I find myself dressing more and more casual it seems, but I still like to look professional and appropriate.  So today I have two work looks for you, a professional one, and a casual one.  I have deemed my Fridays casual Friday.  But that is pretty much the only day I wear jeans.  Although some of my coworkers wear them every day.

A Professional Work Look

I actually bought this spotted dress at Ann Taylor over the winter, and I wore it to church on Christmas Eve.  But it is a great casual dress for me to wear to work, and I so love the pattern!  I have had fun styling it with different things.  I have worn it with a jean jacket, with a lace overlay, and with a brown sweater, so I wanted to add a pop of color this time, and I love it with the turquoise!  The peep toe lace up booties are my absolute favorite! And comfortable to boot-ie!  Ha!

A Casual Work Look

I wore this outfit to work recently for a casual Friday look.  We have had a really cool spring, and it seems like I haven’t really been able to lighten things up as much as I wish I could.  I bought this utility vest in the Fall, but I can see myself wearing it for all seasons.  And I’m anxious to pair it with a summer dress soon!

These blush sneakers were a Target find and I just adore them.  I want to wear them with all the things.  And suprisingly, they go with so much!  and of course, this stacked tassel necklace is one of my favorite jewelry items, and I love it so much that I am considering purchasing another one in pastels.

Thank you so much for joining me today for a new style post!  I hope you enjoyed seeing both a professional and a casual work look.  I have really been trying to purge my closet over the past several months.  I am trying to be really more strict with myself and my wardrobe, and not holding onto clothing items for too long anymore.  I have been feeling a strong pull toward simplifying my closet and right now I am all about only keeping clothing items that I love.  I have been slowly chipping away at this purge, and I have gotten rid of about 5-6 trash bags of clothing, and I’m not even finished yet!

What I have been doing is when I am trying to pick out something to wear, if I come across something that I absolutely don’t want to wear, and I notice that I have felt that way each time I come across that item, I immediately toss it in my purge bag.  I find myself shopping more and more for classic items that I can mix and match with most of the rest of my wardrobe.

And so far I have not missed a single item I have gotten rid of.  I actually feel like I am having an easier time choosing things to wear because I am getting down to where I like most of what is left.  And that is a really good feeling.  I still have a ways to go, but I have made significant progress.  Eventually I would like to write a post all about it, but I am waiting until I feel finished.  Anyway, that is a little about what I have been doing in my closet!  Have a great day!

Thanks so much! It is cold where I work, so I always throw on a jacket or a sweater!
