Sweet Parrish Place Style {Vol. 9}

December 31, 2014 By Nicki Leave a Comment

It’s New Year’s Eve!!  Happy New Year, and best wishes from the Sweet Parrish Place family!

Hey all! Welcome to my weekly style post! I took a little break from posting my weekly outfits over the holidays, but I am back!  Every week, I take pictures of my outfits and join other bloggers around blog land who do the same. These posts are something that I really enjoy, because I have always had a passion for fashion. I love putting together new outfits, and shopping my own closet to wear things in different ways. I wear the clothes I own forever, but I usually don’t wear any item in the exact same way more than once or twice.  As a middle school counselor, I am always looking for inspiration, and ways to be stylish, professional, age appropriate, and modest, and I hope to provide that same inspiration to other women and mothers in similar professions or lifestyles.

This first dress is new, and I fell in love with this dress when I saw it at Gap.  Everything in the store was 40% off at the time, and if you used your Gap credit card you got an additional 10% off, so I got it for half off.  I love everything about this dress, and it will be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come.  And right now it is for sale online for $48.99, just click the link below the picture and you can go directly to the dress.

This was what I wore on casual Friday the last day before Christmas break.

This was another thing I bought at Gap the same night as the black dress in the first picture.  And I.  Love.  This.  Sweater.  Another staple that will remain in my wardrobe for years.  I looked for it online to give you a link to it, and strangely could not find it, but I just bought it in the store a couple of weeks ago.

Last minute Christmas shopping trip.  I debated taking this picture out of the post, because looking back at the picture, I don’t like this outfit!  But in the spirit of keeping it real, this is the outfit.  I like each piece individually, just not really together.  And both sweaters are old, so I am not linking back to either of them.

These are a couple of family pictures we took on Christmas Eve.  I thought you might enjoy seeing what we all wore.  Plus, I forgot to take a picture of just me!  I wore the same dress for church that I have on in the first picture.  As I said, love the dress, it is one of those items in my closet that I just keep wanting to reach for!  On this night, I layered a black and white striped shirt underneath and wore a striped scarf, black tights, and black booties.

And here is one more with LC in the picture.  The pants he is wearing are new, from JCrew, and he had not tried them on before.  When he put them on, he was a little startled by just how skinny they were.  But I think he pulls them off just fine!  It was quite hilarious watching his reaction to them though, ha!

And then here are a couple of pictures taken on Christmas day.  For me, I am usually so wiped out by the time we have to get ready to go on Christmas day that I go casual.  And I am in love with this new buffalo plaid flannel shirt Miss 18 Year Old bought me for Christmas!  Just in case you are wondering, Miss 18 year Old’s entire outfit was thrifted (except the booties)- so no links for you.  I just LOVE it that my daughter has a love for thrifting and vintage, just like I do.

And this is LC and I.  I bought him the tie for Christmas, at TJ Maxx.  It is a flannel plaid tie.
Christmas Day Casual
The coat I am wearing in the picture below is a Christmas gift from LC.  But we actually bought it at a local consignment shop.  It is Lucky Brand.  I have been wanting a military jacket since fall began, and the fur around the hood of this one is removable.  I wonder who it was who decided to take this jacket to a consignment shop?  In my opinion it is totally in style right now.

And last but not least, this is what I wore to visit my grandparents at the nursing home over the weekend.  Comfy and casual.  These leggings are totally comfy, but look like corduroy.  I wish I could remember where I bought them, but it was a few years ago.
