I just wanted to stop in to say that I have decided to take a week or so off from the blog.
On Sunday, my grandmother passed away. I watched her go. Have you ever experienced that? It is both a blessing and a curse. This is my second experience watching a grandparent pass on, and it did not get any easier. But I am glad I was there, and I would not change it for the world.
So I am going to be busy for the next couple of days with the viewing and the funeral, and then we have a trip planned for Spring Break. I just need to spend some time with my family and not worry about anything else right now.
My grandmother was one of the best people I have ever known. She loved God with all of her heart. She was a simple and wonderful person, and I will be forever grateful that she was my grandmother.
I will leave you with this – the lyrics to my favorite hymn. And the reason it is my favorite is because it reminds me of my grandma. I so clearly remember her singing it to me on many occasions. And every time I hear it, I think of her.
The Old Rugged Cross
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.
Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.
I copied the above lyrics and image from this blog.
