Trashtastic Tuesday- DIY Painted Doormat

July 28, 2015 By Nicki 3 Comments

Painted Outdoor Rug4

Hey all!  Welcome to Trashtastic Tuesday! This is a little series around here where I show you something that I thrifted, sometimes I make it over, sometimes I don’t.  Or it may be something that I have owned and I am tired of, or no longer like, so I make it over.  But nevertheless, it is usually something that I paid very little money for.  Today’s project is a DIY painted Doormat.  Door mats can be kind of pricey, don’t you agree?  Well. I didn’t want to pay the expensive prices, but I wanted something unique and a little sassy, so I decided to buy an inexpensive doormat from Ikea and paint it myself.

It was so simple.  All I needed was black spray paint and some stencils.  I decided to spray paint our house number right in the middle, and then Hi! and Bye! in each corner.  Make sure you lay the stencil out as flat and tight as possible on the rug so you don’t have any bleed through.  I used black spray paint for this project,  and in retrospect I think it would have turned out much more sharp if I had hand painted it.  So I would recommend you hand paint it.

This was such a quick, easy project that really spiced up my doormat!  If you don’t want to pay the price for a cute doormat, give painting one a try!  If you read my post from yesterday, then you might know that my camera broke and I am waiting for my new one to be delivered.  I couldn’t take pictures of the Trashtastic Tuesday project I had planned, so I kind of pulled this one out of thin air.  I searched through my archives and found pictures I took of this doormat from last summer, and I realized that I had never shared it with you guys!  That is why the wreath is not the one I have hanging on my front door this summer, tee hee!

This is a nice way to freshen up the entryway and to make it personalized. Very nice.

How cute! I had a nice monogrammed one that wore out, I could do this with a monogram. Thanks for linking up to #HomeMattersParty
