Trashtastic Tuesday- DIY Tiered Jewelry Tray

March 4, 2014 By Nicki Leave a Comment

Welcome to Trashtastic Tuesday!  This is a series I run on my blog every two weeks.  I usually take something that I thrifted or something like that, and  repurpose it or make it over.  Sometimes, if I don’t have a new project to share, I will scour the internet for other trashtastic finds, and feature them.

How many of you have seen these cute little tiered jewelry trays on Pinterest or other blogs?  A few of them had been catching my eye, and I decided I wanted to make one for my bedroom.  I am always laying my jewelry on my dresser for a day or so until I get around to putting it away.  So, I set out to make one of my own.

I made this tiered jewelry tray for less than $15, using a dollar store glass candle stick and two plates I bought on clearance at Pier One.

This is a picture of the super glue I purchased at Lowes to make this.

This was a glass candle stick that I spray painted gold.  We had maybe one nice day in the past couple of months, so I took advantage and took this outside and gave it a few coats.

After the spray paint dried this was so easy!  I started by super gluing the candle stick, right in the center, to the bottom plate, which is slightly bigger than the top plate.  I just put a ring of super glue all around the bottom of the candle stick.

I gave the candle stick some time to adhere to the bottom plate before I super glued the top plate on.  I just put a ring of glue around the top of the candle stick and placed the plate in the center.  It did not take long for it to be dry.

And voila!  I had a tiered jewelry tray for my bedroom!

Here it is now, being all useful and stuff!  You sweet little jewelry tray, you!  The little ring holder is a Lennox ring holder that I had been using for years.  I just added it right on top, I did not glue it down.

Sometimes, it’s the little things that can make a girl happy!

Well, what do you think?  Trashtastic, no?  The best thing about this DIY jewelry tray is that you can use whatever plates or spray paint color you want.  You can make it as funky or as simple as you want it to be.  I chose somewhat neutral colors for mine.  I wanted something classic and neutral that I can keep for a long time.  You can’t tell this in the pictures, but the plates have a little gold ring right on the inside of the brown.  And the brown has a metallic sheen to it.

Thank you for stopping by today for Trashtastic Tuesday!  If you would like to see my other Trashtastic Tuesday projects, you can click here.  I hope you will join me again in a couple of weeks to find out what else I have in store!
