Welcome to Trashtastic Tuesday! This is a little series around here where I show you something that I thrifted, sometimes I make it over, sometimes I don’t. But nevertheless, it is usually something that I paid very little money for.
Remember yesterday, when I mentioned that I was adding a subtle touch of pink to my living room? Well, in case you are new here, I said that I had recently decided to add a touch of pink to my living room, and this painting was my inspiration for this decision.
I found this Van Gogh print at The Mission for .50 cents! Obviously it is a knock off. But the actual painting is called vase with zinnias and other flowers.
The frame is a little beat up. But I have mad love for this piece of art! She had to come home with me, and she did. I had planned on doing something to the frame, or reframing it. But I am so in love with her just the way she is that right now, she is not going to be changed at all.
Because I love her. And love is supposed to be unconditional, right? I mean, when you truly love something, you love it just the way it is? Am I right?
And me and this fake Van Gogh? I think we were made for each other. A match made in heaven!
I decided to lean her up against the wall on my bookcase so that I could look at her. And that was it, folks! I have not stopped staring at her, and whispering sweet nothings in her ear, since then.
Her and I have been spending a lot of time together. She tells me how happy she is to be living with her new family. And I tell her how much I love her beautiful blooms, and her pretty green pot. And her black background, and yes, even her rickety gold frame. And I started noticing her subtle pink colors. Then I started noticing the subtle pink colors in the artwork that hangs over my fireplace. And then I ordered a kilim pillow on EBay that had subtle pink colors (I’ll show you that on another day).
And then, as if it were fate, I found this cute little pink and green bowl at Anthropologie on Saturday, and I just knew that she was dying to meet my fake Van Gogh!
So, I invited her to join us. I told her I had the perfect spot for her on my bookcase. And she said yes! They seem to really like each other too. And I really love having them around!
My thrifted art is so Trashtastic that you just might find her picture in the dictionary when you look up the word trashtastic. Wait a minute, is that even a word? Well, maybe not. But at my house it is!
