Trashtastic Tuesday- Updating Books and Boxes With Wrapping Paper

April 8, 2014 By Nicki Leave a Comment

Welcome to Trashtastic Tuesday!  This is a little series around here where I show you something that I thrifted, sometimes I make it over, sometimes I don’t.  Or it may be something that I have owned and I am tired of, or no longer like, so I make it over.  But nevertheless, it is usually something that I paid very little money for.  Today, I am showing you how I used wrapping paper to give a little pizzazz to some things I already owned.  First up, these little storage boxes:

I have owned these small storage boxes for several years.  They hold things like old memory cards and push pins.  I still use them, but they no longer matched my décor.  I wanted to use them on the shelves over our desk, so I decided to change them by wrapping them with wrapping paper!  I love the way they turned out!

Here they are on our shelf.  You will notice that the boxes on the shelf below are also wrapped using brown craft paper.  They are old shoe boxes, and I placed chalkboard labels on them.  Both of these hide so much clutter, and they look cute on the shelf.  And both were wrapped using paper that I already had.

Next up, I wrapped these books on my sofa table.  I was decorating for spring, and the books just felt too heavy looking.  I wanted to lighten them up a bit, and this polka dotted wrapping paper was the perfect touch.  This wrapping paper came from the dollar aisle at Target.  I used a green Sharpie to just write the book titles on the side of the book.

What a great way to be able to utilize stacks of books, and have them match your décor a little better!  These books give some height to my little bunnies and my candle, and now they look so cute!

Using wrapping paper to change up the look of old boxes and books is totally Trashtastic!  It is cheap, easy, and there are so many different choices of fabulous wrapping paper you can buy.  I have also used wrapping paper to back a bookshelf, and to jazz up our desk pad.

If you would like to see more of this series, I have a page dedicated to my Trashtastic Tuesday Projects.  I would love for you to take the time to check it out.

Have used wrapping paper for any creative things besides wrapping gifts?  If so, I would love to read about what creative ways you have come up with.  Tell me your ideas or projects below in the comments.
