Trashtastic Tuesday–DIY Jute Wrapped Bottle

Hey all!  Welcome to Trashtastic Tuesday! This is a little series around here where I show you something that I thrifted, sometimes I make it over, sometimes I don’t.  Or it may be something that I have owned and I am tired of, or no longer like, so I make it over.  But nevertheless, it is usually something that I paid very little money for.  Today I want to share a quick, inexpensive, and simple little project with you- my DIY jute wrapped bottle.  If you are a regular around here, you may have seen this table vignette on my Fall Home Tour.  Since everyone is starting to decorate for Christmas, I thought I had better quick share this since it is decorated for Fall.

I am certainly not the first person to take a bottle or a jar and wrap it with jute.  That is for certain!  But I made this cute little bottle when I was decorating for fall, and it is something that I can use all throughout the year in my home, so I wanted to share it anyway.  It makes the perfect little vase, and it is neutral, so it will work virtually anywhere.

If you have a hot glue gun, that is all you need to make a bottle like this.  I used a bottle that someone in our family had drank a Starbucks drink in.  I already had the jute in my stash, but you can find it at Wal-Mart or any craft store or home improvement store.  Simply start at the bottom, and put a small dot of hot glue directly on the bottle where you want to start wrapping.  Take the just and just wrap it tightly around the bottle, placing a tiny dollop of hot glue every time you go around one full turn.  I made all of my hot glue dollops right on top of each other.  I found that the jute stayed tighter looking if I glued it on each go around the bottle.  When you are finished, just cut the jute and hot glue it to the bottle right at the top.  I actually ran out of the size jute I was using, so I stopped it at the top of the wide section of the bottle, and started using a thinner jute.  I actually like the look it gave it!
BTW- the White pumpkin planter filled with sunflowers on the bottom shelf is a plastic dollar store jack-o-lantern bucket that I took the handle off of and painted with two coats of white chalk paint. Super easy, super cheap, and super trashtastic as well!

And when you are finished, you have a small vase that you can use for fresh or fake flowers, or any other thing that you want to put in it!  I knocked this out in about 30 minutes one afternoon.  And since I already had everything I needed on hand, I really didn’t pay anything to make this.  And I will get so much use out of it.  Now, if that is not trashtastic, I just don’t know what is!
