What I Wore Wednesday

April 2, 2014 By Nicki Leave a Comment

Welcome to my Weekly WIWW post!  Every week, for several months now, I have been taking pictures of my outfits and joining the WIWW link party with The Pleated Poppy.  These posts are something that I really enjoy, because I have always had a passion for fashion.  I love putting together new outfits, and shopping my own closet to wear things in different ways.

I am going to share my outfits today, but I also have a special treat for you.  My daughter’s High School Play “All Shook Up” was this past weekend, so I am also going to share a few pictures with the kids in their costumes.  Such a fun show it was, and if I do say so myself, Miss 17 Year Old was awesome!  She is so blessed with such a beautiful voice, and I was very proud of her! But it was a very bittersweet weekend for me.  It was her last play of high school, and singing is her passion.  And the tears welled up every time she sang, knowing that this was the end of a stage in her life that she will always remember.

This black dress I am wearing was designed by an old high school friend of mine.  And I love it!  I am going to show you a few different pictures of it.  I liked it with this green cardigan.  I put a skinny black belt around it to give myself some shape, and this black and green polka dotted scarf was the perfect touch.  I have put a link to her Etsy shop under each picture of this dress, in case you would like to see more of her work.  You will be seeing more of her clothing and reading more about Little Black Designs in weeks to come!

It’s also really cute with just the scarf.  Such a forgiving material, and I loved the fit and the sleeves.

Here is is without the scarf.  I love the pleating in the front.

Here is a picture of some of the back details of this dress.  I tried to get a shot of it outside, but the light was not cooperating with me that day.  This isn’t a great shot either, but at least you can see the details. It is hard to photograph details in black!

This is a work outfit.  You can see another way I wore this striped cardigan here.

This is what I wore to opening night of the play.

This is me with Miss 17 Year Old and Our Swedish Daughter.  She was in the play too!  And she was a great dancer! And oh yeah, why can’t I look this young in ALL pictures?  HUH?

This was Saturday night at the play.  I got lots of compliments on this outfit, and LC particularly liked the flowered jeans.  If you remember, I bought these on a recent trip to Georgetown.  And I can think of many more ways to style them!

Sunday afternoon at the play.  I bought this striped tunic on a recent Goodwill trip.

These two young’uns are going to the Prom together!  Jonathan was the lead male in the play and did fantastic!

The girl, Bekah, in the Blonde wig was awesome!  She played a sexy bombshell, and she played it perfectly!  BTW, the dress Miss 17 Year Old is wearing is a wedding dress.  She got married at the end!

And one more work outfit. I think this is my favorite of the week.  I was looking for a new way to wear this old denim skirt, and I love the way it turned out!  Let me share a little secret with you.  This is the exact way my hair looked when I woke up that morning.  I kinda like the bedhead, so I went with it!  Am I the only one who ever does that?  come on, tell me if you do it too!
