I love clothes! I am just gonna say it now. If you know me at all, I am not telling you anything you don’t already know. In early March, I participated in the Wear It Challenge with a bunch of blogs that I read. Writing that post inspired me to keep going with adding a fashion aspect to my blog. So I have been taking pictures of my different outfits and posting them on instagram ever since then. I just wanted to document them while I was trying to think up an idea of how to incorporate this into the blog. Lately, I have come to realize that it is time to edit down and purge my overflowing closet. I do a purge twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. And before we moved, I purged A LOT of clothing. But I have come to the realization and the belief that it is not necessary to have as many clothes in my closet as I do. So I have decided to do a major wardrobe edit in the very near future.
I read this article in a magazine once wear one of the fashion editor’s decided to edit her closet, and she decided to wear every single thing in her closet at least once before she bought anything else. After wearing it once, it either stayed, or she got rid of it. I loved that idea! I have been considering doing a changed up version of this in my own wardrobe and writing about it on my blog. I was pitching my idea to LC one day and he questioned me adding a fashion element to my blog. I told him it was my plan all along, and here is the proof: I would like to document all of the work we will be doing to update our home, and throw in occasional rants about marriage, motherhood, fashion, and the reasons for my divorce. I wrote that sentence in my about me page from the very beginning!
So, moving on, I cannot promise that I will not purchase anything new in the process- (#afterallitisspringtimeandIamgoingonahugevacationandihavetheitchtoshop), but I am going to try this thing-wearing every single thing I own. If I don’t even want to put it on, then I won’t, but I then have to get rid of it. If I wear it-and hate it- then it goes. And I am going to document it all along the way. And oh yeah, last week I discovered the perfect way to incorporate this and also participate with a totally awesome linky partay! It is over at The Pleated Poppy, and it is called What I wore Wednesday! If you love to see what other women are wearing, check it out! So much inspiration! So from now on, I am going to do a fashion post every Wednesday so I can link up to the party, and I am going to show you the outfits I have been wearing. And oh! I would love to have your input! Remember- I am doing an experiment here! I am trying to edit my closet! If you think something should stay- tell me! And if you think it should go- don’t be afraid to tell me that as well. Come on, be honest and help a sister out! This is going to be hard for me and I need your help! So I am showing you the outfits I have posted on instagram in the month of March, plus some I took with my camera. Now that I am serious about this I am going to start using my camera for better quality photos. Promise. Here goes! And oh yeah, I am usually standing in front of the full length mirror in my bedroom, so the bed may or may not be made. Get over it. Or I may be in the bathroom at my work. That is how I roll.
I am linking up here:
You look great! I really like the polka dot cardigan. It looks fantastic with the stripes!
Welcome to WIWW! It really does help with getting dressed in the morning! You've hit my favorites in your first post – polka dots, gingham and stripes! 🙂
Kristen, Thanks! I have been so excited all week to join the party today!
Yay!!! I am so excited you decided to do WIWW! I still need to post my outfit or the week. It is so hard to take pictures of myself.
Yay! I have been looking forward to it all week! Have you posted anything yet? I know, I hate taking pictures of myself. It makes me feel so weird. But it is inspiring me to think more abut my appearance.
