Today I’m bringing you some cozy fall goodness with the first part of my Fall Home Tour.
Fall Tour Of Homes
Hey friends! Today is an exciting day because I am joining together with 5 fabulous bloggers to bring you some cozy goodness with our Fall tour of homes. I’m joining once again with my friends of No Place Like Home, and each of us is opening our homes today to share some Autumn inspiration. We have a member of our group who lives in an area of Houston that was affected by the hurricane, so she is unable to join in with us today. She has been too busy spending her time helping those in need in the Houston area, so won’t you please go and visit her blog at The Aspiring Home and show her some love as well?

If you are new here, welcome! I’m Nicki, a lover of color, an eclectic gathered style, and a great thrifty find. I am so glad you are here, and I hope you enjoy part one of my Fall Home Tour. Today I will be sharing my Fall entryway and our mudroom, which is our downstairs entry that leads in from the garage.

We live in a 1996 split level home that we have slowly but surely been updating and giving our own personal style. We have a tiny little entry that leads both up and the down the stairs, and I have done my best to make it as functional as possible for the tight space I had to work with. Over the years, we have painted the walls, the stair rails, the stair risers, and the front door. We have also added shoe storage, some DIY hooks, and changed out the glass shades on our chandelier.
This cabinet is small but mighty, and it is such a big help at corralling all of the shoes that kicked off at this front door. And I love having a little area in the entryway that I can decorate and make look pretty. It’s also a perfect place to lay keys or sunglasses. Isn’t it the little pug jar the cutest? It was a gift, and we love using it to hold our pug, Tyson’s, treats. I’ve also managed to keep this succulent alive all summer long, and it’s still looking good. I think this is a good spot for plants. This little felt pumpkin and the cotton stems I placed in my ginger jar give a nice Fall vibe to all who enter.

There are no electric outlets in this entire stairwell, and I longed for a little light on this landing that would light the way without having to turn on the bright chandelier. So I filled a mason jar with some LED string lights and placed the jar inside of this glass shade that use to be part of the light on the outside of our house. When we replaced the outdoor lights, I kept this one glass shade, cleaned it up, and brought it in here. I quite like it there. You can find the free printable for the cute little Fall wreath art hanging on the wall here.
The gallery walls going both up and down the stairs have slowly evolved to what they are now, and it is fun to add, and sometimes, take away from what I have hanging here. I love the colors in the afghan that hangs at the top of the stairs. It definitely gives me Fall feels, and I was thrilled when I spotted it in a thrift store.
I replaced a few other things on the wall going up the stairs with this Fall painting that I found at a thrift store.
This autographed photo of Tom Cruise is one of my favorite things. I have been a fan of his for years, and decided, why not share him with all who come to visit us. The vintage bamboo screen is a recent find that I came across hanging on the wall in a house I was visiting, and the owner took it right off of the wall and gave it to me when I commented that it was my jam! Who was I to refuse? I love the way the sun streams into the entryway from the front door and large window above it.

Fall Mudroom
This mudroom is a recently updated area of our home. I made over this space in the Spring for the $100 Room Challenge. I love the way it turned out and it is such a more functional space for our family now. This was my first opportunity to decorate it for a season, so I enjoyed giving it a Fall vibe and photographing it to share with you guys! You might notice our vintage hamper that is gracing the mudroom area. Our laundry closet is right behind those double doors. And I thought about removing the hamper for the photos, but decided to keep it because I love the little piece of retro goodness!
You can read about my DIY brown paper floor and how it held up after one year here and here. It has lasted us about 4 years so far, but we plan to replace it with some quality flooring before too much longer. I am so thrilled with how this space transformed from dark and dreary to bright and cheery! This bench and the shelf above it used to be black. I gave it a new life with some white chalk paint.
I recently found the pretty floral pillows at a yard sale my next door neighbor was having and I scooped them up. I think they have some Fall feels of their own.
This trunk I made over for the space holds lots of spare blankets, and I am happy to have a place to keep them. I also recently made over the bathroom that you can see a peek into in the below photo. The macrame light was a great little DIY project.
I hired a local artist and friend of my daughters to make me this wall weave, and I love the way it turned out. It usually hangs in our downstairs bathroom, but I decided to relocate it to this spot temporarily, and I’m enjoying it in our mudroom area for Fall.
This wall of hooks my husband and I built for the mudroom makeover is such a hard working space! And it is also a huge improvement over what it once was. These hooks have held everything from beach towels and beach bags to book bags, hats, and jackets.

What a great idea to put string lights out when there’s not outlet. I need to do that! And when I first saw the picture of Tom Cruise, I was like Whaaaaat? Is she related to him? Had a good LOL moment when I read that you loved him too. 😉
Hi cindy, I am so glad you visited today and took the time to comment! The string lights work great as just enough light to get up and down the stairs at night. And if you love Tom Cruise too?!? Then we can definitely be friends! Ha!
Hey Nicki…I love the gallery walls you’ve put together for your staircases. There is so much of your character displayed there.
I love how you’ve tucked little touches of fall here and there…like those sunflowers in the shopping totes on the wall and the red pillows in your mudroom…
I’m ready to pop over and share a glass of wine and just soak it all in.
Hugs and wishes for a great weekend.
Lynn
Thank you Lynn! I wish you were closer so you could do just that. Have a great weekend!
Nicki, You did a fabulous job of decorating your home for fall. I love how you added the sunflowers into the tote, and all the pumpkins around your place. That wallhanging looks great where you have it now. Everything looks so cozy and I’m looking forward to seeing the upstairs.

I always enjoy your home tours! Your house is eclectic in a good way. Sometimes I think that word can mean a conglomeration of things that don’t necessarily go together but not at your house! I love the colors, the things with meaning, and the fun you’ve incorporated! Hey, when there’s a hippy sign and a Tom Cruise autograph I’m there!!
