This is the Best of 2017, the most popular posts of the year here at Sweet Parrish Place.
Hey friends! Wow wow wow, today is the very first day of 2018! Happy New Year! We spent New Years Eve at a small party with good friends, and it was a fun time. In case you didn’t notice, I took a little blogging break over Christmas to just spend time with family and friends, and it was a wonderful week full of Christmas cheer, snuggles, naps, and relaxation. My youngest little one turned 10, and now it’s time to start a fresh brand spanking new year, and I am ready! How about you? This week, I will be bringing you a little series called the Best of 2017, and we are starting off with our most popular posts. These are the top ten posts that you guys, my valued and much loved readers, liked the best!
How can I possibly thank you enough for spending time on my blog this past year? I wish I could give each of you a gift, but since that is not possible, I just want to thank each one of you from the very bottom of my heart. Because this blog is my passion, and it took me almost 40 years to find my passion in life. So the fact that you are finding something of value here makes my heart smile so big! I hope that you will stick with me and find out what 2018 has in store for my little corner of the internet, because I have a lot of fun things planned! Probably the biggest thing in the works is that we will be renovating our kitchen! Not a total gut job, but it is gonna look like a brand new room, and I am so excited to share more about that! Anyway, let’s get to it, these were the top ten most popular posts that I blogged about in 2017, so I hope you enjoy this little look back.
10. Clean & Tidy Friday | 15 Jewelry Organization Ideas
I started this Clean and Tidy Friday series in September of 2017, so I am thrilled that one of these posts made it into my top 10 reader favorites! That is a sign for me that maybe this series is a good idea, so you will continue seeing these types of cleaning/organization posts from me once a month in 2018.
9. My March Favorites | Be Inspired
I have been writing a monthly favorites post for most of the years I have been blogging. I have skipped months here and there, but I always seem to come back to it, and it’s mostly because these posts are some of my most popular content. You guys seems to really enjoy my monthly favorites, so I plan to keep on writing them as well! For whatever reason, my March favorites post was in the top ten of my most popular posts this year, so I’m glad it was well received!
8. Home Tour | Local 97 Year Old Home
I am so delighted to see that this post made my top ten! My good friend Chrisanne and her husband Lloyd allowed me to come into their home and photograph it to share it with you, and I was so happy to give my readers a glimpse into this lovely and delightful local home. If you haven’t seen it yet, you have to take a look!
7. Mudroom Makeover Reveal | $100 Room Challenge
Last winter I joined the $100 Room Challenge for the very first time, and I made our downstairs hallway into a mud room, all on a $100 budget! This was one of my favorite projects of the year, and not only that, but it is now one of the hardest working spots in our home all year long. Right now, we have a few inches of snow on the ground and we are in the throws of winter, and you should see how many coats are piled on these hooks, and how many scarves are piled into the baskets of this bench! I honestly don’t know what I would do now without this space and I am simply thrilled that it resonated with you guys as well! Actually, I am currently preparing to join the $100 room challenge again in 2018 and I will be transforming my dining room using only $100. The challenge starts next week, so stay tuned for that!
6. Budget Linen Closet Makeover
As I mentioned earlier in this post, I made a conscious effort in 2017 to bring more cleaning/organization types of posts to the blog. And you guys seem to like them because two of them made it into my top ten most popular this year. Last January, some of my blog friends and I joined together to bring you a little series on organization called Ideas and Incentive to Organize Your Home, and this post was all about my budget linen closet makeover.
5. Boho Eclectic Bathroom Reveal | Spring One Room Challenge
I am happy to finally say that since moving into this home in 2012, we have managed to update all three bathrooms in this home. Well, the master still has a few projects left before I can officially call it finished, but I am hoping to spend a snow day or two this winter crossing that off the list. None of my bathroom were gut jobs, but all were budget renovations, and it is amazing what you can do to change a space with not much money. I participated in the spring One Room Challenge in 2017 and gave my son’s bathroom a whole new life. And you guys liked it too, because it is at #5 on the list of my most popular posts!
4. Trashtastic Treasures | Turn a Restaurant Menu Board Into a Letterboard
Letterboards are all the rage right now, and the prices on them have started to be more affordable, but last winter, I was wanting one really bad, but didn’t want to pay the high prices I had been seeing so I bought this cheap restaurant menu board on Ebay and transformed it into a letterboard for our home, and I just love the way it turned out. I think you guys did too because it is my 4th most popular post of the year! I have had a lot of fun changing out this board to match the seasons and my mood.
3. Red and White Christmas Living Room | Christmas Tour of Homes
I joined together with 25 talented bloggers back in December and I shared my red and white Christmas living room. This group of women who opened their Christmas homes made for a wonderful week long series and it was a huge hit with you guys, making this my second most popular post of the year. It was also my favorite year for my Christmas decor ever. I am usually dying to get it all taken down by January 1st, but this year, I am still enjoying the ambiance and I plan to leave it up an extra week. Plus, I go back to work a couple of days sooner than usual, and I don’t want to spend my last day of Christmas break tearing it all down. So it can wait another week, and my family can enjoy for an extra week this year.
I think my boho eclectic bathroom reveal was quite a hit on the blog because two of my posts about it made the top ten for the year. This DIY macrame pendant light is one of my favorite projects ever. Just Friday night I had a family get together and I let everyone have a look around the house and this light was a huge hit with my family as well.
1. DIY Headboard | Childrens Room
It was probably the highlight of my year to work together with my 9 year old son (who just turned 10) to give him a bold and colorful new bedroom, so it thrills me beyond measure to know that the DIY headboard I made for his room was my most popular post of 2017! I am so in love with this space, and you can see the full reveal of his bedroom here. I completed it for the Fall One Room Challenge.
Again, thank you so very much for coming to my blog and reading when you find the time, and I wouldn’t still be doing this if there wasn’t someone out there reading, so you have no idea how important you are to me. I wish you the very happiest 2018 imaginable! I will be back with a few more Best of 2017 posts to share this week, and then I will be giving you a little glimpse into what we have planned here on the blog for 2018, so stay tuned for that! Happy New Year!
